Through a series of podcasts, members of the Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners discuss the state of specialty pharmacy during the COVID-19 pandemic and how specialty pharmacy practice has changed. During this podcast, speakers discuss student and resident education during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
SPEAKERS
Huda-Marie Kandah, Pharm.D., BCPS, CSP, is the Pharmacy Manager of Accreditation, Quality and Residency of the Specialty Pharmacy program at University of Chicago Medicine. She completed her Pharm.D. Degree at Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy in 2012, and completed her post-graduate residency training program at Rush University Medical Center in 2013. Huda has recently transitioned into this new role on April 2020 to lead accreditation of all ambulatory pharmacy programs, including Specialty, Mail Order, and Ambulatory Infusion. Prior to role, she was the Clinical Manager, Specialty Pharmacy and Ambulatory Infusion. Huda also serves as the Residency Program Director of the PGY-2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership program. She has successful lead this new program through accreditation through ASHP. Huda is an active member of the ASHP Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners and Vizient. She currently serves in the role of Chair of the Educational Steering Committee. She has contributed to several projects, including the publication of toolkits, articles, and research projects.
Lisa Kumor, PharmD, BCACP, is the Residency and Accreditation Coordinator within the Specialty Pharmacy Services team at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital and Health Sciences System and an assistant clinical professor with University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy. She is the residency program director for the PGY1 Community-Based residency at UIC. She received her PharmD from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 Community-Based residency at Walgreen Co and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Maggie English is a PGY2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Resident at the University of Kentucky. She is originally from Milwaukee, WI and received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA. Her practice areas of interest include process improvement, specialty pharmacy outcomes, and accreditation. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. English is the manager for retail and community interns, co-chair of the UK Specialty Pharmacy Quality Management Committee, and pursuing an MBA through the UK Gatton College of Business. After residency, Dr. English hopes to obtain a specialty pharmacy leadership position at an Academic Medical Center.
