In this podcast, Dr. Matt Baker, Dr. Megan Musselman, Rachel Rodgers, and Dr. Richard Hellman, discuss their cross-disciplinary effort to implement continuous glucose monitoring in the inpatient setting, with host and AJHP Editor in Chief, Dr. Daniel Cobaugh.
SPEAKERS
Matt Baker, PharmD, MS, BCPS, DPLA, is a clinical pharmacist at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Baker serves as the Pharmacy Clinical Supervisor as well as adjunct faculty for the University of Missouri Kansas City College Of Pharmacy. Dr. Baker earned his Pharm.D. degree from Saint Louis College of Pharmacy, completed both the Research Boot Camp and Pharmacy Leadership Academy through the ASHP Foundation, and received a M.S. in Health Services Administration from the University of Wyoming.
Megan Musselman, PharmD, MS, BCPS, BCCCP, DPLA, FCCP, is an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist and PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at North Kansas City Hospital. She received her Pharm.D. from Creighton University and went on to complete her PGY1 at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago and her PGY2 emergency medicine residency at the Detroit Receiving Hospital. Her practice interests are toxicology, neurotrauma critical care, and clinical leadership.
Rachel Rogers, a critical care RN, is also Diabetes educator for North Kansas City Hospital. Her background is in Public Health with a focus on Behavioral science. She is passionate about diabetes management, education, and patient self-efficacy and is supported by her husband who has T!D.
Richard Hellman, MD, FACP, FACE, is an endocrinologist at NKC Hospital and chairs their Glycemic Control Subcommittee, working closely with Dr. Baker. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at UMKC Medical School, co-author of the 2021 AACE Advanced Diabetes Technology Guidelines, and co-author of guidelines on inpatient glycemic control for AACE, ADA and Endocrine Society. He advises NCQA on diabetes performance measures, and is nationally known for his leadership and has received many awards.
