The ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum has four advisory groups that provide advice and guidance to the Forum regarding the unique needs of student members and how these needs might be addressed by the provision of resources and programs by ASHP.

Advancement of Professional Practice Advisory Group
Purview
The Advancement of Professional Practice Advisory Group (formerly Advancement of Pharmacy Practice Advisory Group) serves to advise ASHP regarding the development and support of programs designed to engage and educate students regarding initiatives to advance the practice of pharmacy.
Charges
- Conduct an annual review of Pharmacy Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI and PAI 2030) student resources and propose changes to fulfill gaps.
- Promote and raise awareness of PAI week.
- Develop and implement a deliverable centered around PAI.
- Promote and raise awareness about the importance of student advocacy efforts.
- Develop and implement a deliverable addressing Wellbeing & Resilience.

Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group
Purview
The Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding professional development, career exploration opportunities, and the growth and development of future pharmacy leaders.
Charges
- Review and evaluate student leadership resources available.
- Develop and implement a deliverable addressing student leadership development.
- Identify unique practice areas to highlight in the ASHP Official Podcast series Career Pearls.
- Develop and implement tips and advice on how to secure a pharmacy internship.
- Promote and raise awareness about the CV resources and CV review.
- Provide advice on maximizing the benefits of attending the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition, emphasizing opportunities for networking, professional development, and leadership growth.
- Publish Connect Blogs related to Career and Leadership Development.

Residency Preparation Advisory Group
Purview
The Residency Preparation Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding student residency preparation resources, including the process for obtaining a residency and how it differs from other career options.
Charges
- Review, evaluate, and recommend updates to existing residency preparation materials.
- Promote new and existing resources on the Student Residency Resource Center.
- Communicate residency training options and the value of residency training to student members.
- Provide P1, P2, and P3 students interested in pursuing residencies with advice and strategies to strengthen their residency candidacy and deepen their appreciation for residency training's benefits.
- Promote and spotlight unique Residency preparation events at SSHPs.
- Promote and spotlight unique Midyear preparation events at SSHPs.
- Develop and provide guidance on interview preparation.
- Develop resources providing advice and tips to help residency candidates optimize their experience at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition and the Residency Showcase.
- Promote new and existing resources for managing stress, mental health challenges, and well-being during residency interviews and the Match.

Student Society Development Advisory Group
Purview
The Student Society Development Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding the facilitation of growth and development of SSHPs.
Charges
- Develop resources aimed at assisting SSHPs with annual planning.
- Promote and spotlight unique or impactful SSHP initiatives or events.
- Develop resources to help facilitate smooth transitions in SSHP leadership (with a focus on effective onboarding, development, and transition strategies, among other relevant topics).
- Promote and develop ASHP Well-Being and Resilience resources and SSHP initiatives.
- Develop and implement a deliverable centered around membership recruitment strategies.
- Develop and implement a deliverable centered around effective recruitment and engagement strategies for first-year pharmacy students.

Advisory Groups Eligibility Requirements
The Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum will appoint fourteen students to each advisory group for a June-May term. Advisory groups communicate primarily via e-mail and conference call on a periodic basis. Attendance at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting is encouraged, but not required, as the advisory group members have the opportunity to meet face-to-face. Prior elected/appointed leadership is NOT required, however, appointments are competitive.
All nominees must be:
- ASHP student member in good standing;
- Enrolled in ACPE-accredited pharmacy school (e.g., rising P-1 through P-4 years);
- Available to participate in all conference call meetings throughout the year.
Application Instructions
Step 1: Access the ASHP Advisory Group and Committees Appointment page to complete the electronic application form.
Step 2: Submit the following information to the Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee using the electronic application (Opens in February):
- CV and/or resume;
- 250 Word Statement of interest
Note: Individuals seeking appointment as the Advisory Group Chair will be prompted to address their meeting management skills.
