Wes Pitts

Wes Pitts is the Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC) in Tupelo, Mississippi. In addition to his responsibilities as Assistant Director, Wes serves as the NMMC Pharmacy Specialist in Diabetes and Informatics. Wes has extensive experience in implementing and improving clinical service collaborative practice agreements, managing performance and safety improvement initiatives for medication management, and improving technology integration into provider workflows. He serves on many committees and performance improvement teams at NMMC as well as the Clinical Pharmacy Advisory Council for Vizient.

Dr. Pitts received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Mississippi and was named Fellow of ASHP in 2014. He is Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Mississippi and Union University Schools of Pharmacy and has precepted many pharmacy students and residents. Additionally, he has served as an instructor for medical residents at the NMMC Family Medicine Residency Center.

Dr. Pitts is Past President for the Mississippi Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and has served MSHP as Senior Delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates, Chair of the Membership Committee, Chair of the Publications Committee, and member of the Education Committee. He remains active at the state affiliate level by currently serving as the Chair of MSHP’s Legislative Committee. Dr. Pitts is a member of the Executive Committee for the Mississippi Pharmacists Association (MPhA) and is also chair of MPhA’s Government Affairs Committee. He is a former member, Past Co-Chair, and Past-Chair of the ASHP Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners Educational Steering Committee and is currently an appointee to the ASHP Commission on Affiliate Relations. In addition to these roles, he has contributed to the advancement of the profession through publications; speaking at the local, state, and national levels; and serving multiple times as an Educational Session Moderator at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting.
