Brandon Shank
2016 Distinguished Service Award Winner
Brandon Shank is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. His practice area is currently inpatient and outpatient lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and stem cell transplantation.
Dr. Shank received his Pharm.D. degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. He completed a post-graduate year 1 pharmacy practice residency and post-graduate year 2 pharmacy residency, specializing in oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is currently pursuing his Master of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center with a focus in health care leadership. Dr. Shank is also a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist.
His involvement in ASHP began early in pharmacy school through working on Advisory Groups in the Pharmacy Student Forum as well as being active in his school’s Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy. He served on the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee during his final year of pharmacy school; after which he transitioned into the New Practitioners Forum as a member of an Advisory Group. He was Vice Chair and Chair of the New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee where he also worked with the ASHP Research and Education Foundation Research Advisory Panel and represented the Forum at the ASHP House of Delegates. Currently, he is a member of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists Advisory Group on Emerging Sciences. At a state level, he has served on the Membership Council within the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In addition to Dr. Shank’s organizational involvement, he is a co-editor and author for Demystifying Drug Dosing in Obese Patients and has authored several abstracts and peer-reviewed publications in the area of oncology and pharmacy practice.
