Brody Maack, Pharm.D., BCACP, CTTS, joined ASHP in 2012 when he transitioned from a hospital pharmacy role to ambulatory care and academia. “I was excited to learn that ASHP had so many resources and opportunities for both hospital and ambulatory practice,” said Brody. “I have watched the ambulatory care section grow exponentially, and it is exciting to be a part of an organization that supports collaboration of pharmacists throughout the entire continuum of patient care!”
Brody, who is the Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at North Dakota State University and a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Family HealthCare in Fargo, believes that now, more than ever, the importance of collaborating with colleagues across the continuum of care is evident. “ASHP provides extremely progressive, comprehensive, interspecialty education, networking, and leadership opportunities,” he said. “As an ambulatory care practitioner, I see that ASHP is currently leading the way for the advancement of ambulatory care practice.”
Brody recently completed his second year as a member of the Advisory Group on Ambulatory Care Medication Management. One of his most memorable ASHP moments was listening to Peyton Manning, the keynote speaker at the 2016 Midyear Clinical Meeting. “I realized how much pharmacy has grown as a profession, and knowing that ASHP was able to host a future Hall of Fame professional athlete at our meeting made me feel proud of both ASHP and pharmacy.”
