Anthony Scott, PharmD, MBA, DPLA, FASHP ([email protected]), is the director of pharmacy services at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgiawhere he oversees all acute care services for the inpatient department and hospital-based clinics. He obtained his PharmD from the University of Georgia and his MBA in healthcare management from New England College. He completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Piedmont Hospital in Atlantaand then completed his PGY2 health-system pharmacy administration residency at the North Florida - South Georgia VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. He is also a diplomat of the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Academy. Prior to Emory, he served as the assistant director of pharmacy operations at the University of Chicago Medicine and was also the program director of the PGY1/2 health-system pharmacy administrative residency at UCM.
Scott has been an active member of ASHP, currently serving as the Director-at-Large for the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL). He has previously served as the Chair and Vice-Chair for the SPPL Educational Steering Committee and was a workgroup coordinator for the SPPL Advisory Group (SAG) on Leadership Development. He has presented at various ASHP conferences, published in AJHP, and served as a project member for the ASHP Foundation on RFID. He has also been active with the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (GSHP) since returning to the state of Georgia.
As we all reflect on the success stories and challenges within our respective healthcare environments, I am particularly grateful that my participation within ASHP and the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders has equipped me with many connections, resources, and knowledge to contribute towards making a meaningful impact on pharmacy practice within the health-system space. My years of service as a pharmacy leader and member of ASHP has progressively led me to anchor my passions about providing safe and effective patient care. I firmly believe that in this role I will be happily charged with leading efforts to develop leaders and practitioners while advancing the mission and vision of the Section. This group has always been very innovative and supportive of practice advancements over the years, which I look forward to continuing at a high capacity. I routinely see the engagement on topics related to organizational change management, workforce stability, diversity, equity and inclusion, patient safety, and advocating for our profession. I know I have a call to continue supporting this work and I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute in this capacity if elected for this role. I realize that as an elected official and partner, I will need to work together with my peers to build on our current momentum and meet the needs of the Section membership and various correspondents. I look forward to serving the membership if elected and I genuinely thank you for your consideration of my candidacy to be the Chair of the Section.
