Ellen N. Revak, PharmD, MBA, BCPS ([email protected]), is the vice president pharmacy IT applications at Advocate Health. She was previously vice president of pharmacy operations at Aurora Health Care, director of pharmacy at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, and Inpatient Operations Manager at the University Kansas Health System. Revak earned PharmD and MBA degrees from Drake University. She completed a combined PGY1/PGY2 health system pharmacy administration residency at Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin.
Revak has been active within ASHP, including service on the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Management, the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) Educational Steering Committee, and the SPPL Advisory Group on Strategy and Industry Disrupters serving as vice chair and chair on each. Revak is also active on the state level, serving on the Health System Pharmacy Advisory Committee for the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
The Section has played a key role in advancing pharmacy practice as well as informing pharmacy leaders on trends and the evolving healthcare landscape. As the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and disruptive technologies on our industry evolves, it is critical not only for pharmacy leaders to be informed, but to engage in and lead the conversations to ensure we are harnessing the technology in the most effective way for patient care, health equity, and pharmacy practice advancement.
We continue to be challenged by workforce issues with pharmacy personnel. While many of us are familiar with technician shortages, we are also starting to see a decline in the number of pharmacy graduates and individuals pursing pharmacy leadership roles. It is vital we think creatively to address these trends and explore ways to extend the reach of pharmacy personnel to serve more patients across the care continuum.
I am committed to supporting the needs of the members of the Section and partnering with ASHP on the prospects that lie ahead. I look forward to leveraging my professional experience in addition to my passion for health system integration, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and workforce issues to advance the Section. I am honored by this nomination and excited about the potential opportunity to engage with the Section in leading the work.
