Diane M. McClaskey, BSPharm, BCPS ([email protected]), is currently an ambulatory care and population health pharmacist at Citizens Memorial Healthcare in Bolivar, Missouri. Citizens Memorial Healthcare is a rural healthcare system serving eight counties in southwest Missouri, is licensed for 86 beds and includes 34 primary and specialty physician clinics.
Her practice sites include rural health and family practice clinics within the system, and she is an active member of several committees, including: Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Antibiotic Stewardship, Opioid Stewardship, Readmissions, and Mobile Integrative Health. McClaskey also serves as a preceptor for Missouri Schools/Colleges of Pharmacy and is a tireless support of pharmacy residency training.
McClaskey received her Bachelors of Science degree in pharmacy from Drake University and is board certified in pharmacotherapy. She also holds a certificate in Well-Being and Resilience from ASHP and is a certified immunizer.
McClaskey recently finished a term on the ASHP Commission on Credentialing in December 2023 and served as a practitioner surveyor for ASHP PGY1 pharmacy residencies from 2010 through 2015. She has also authored the Confidentiality and Patient Rights chapter for the ASHP Patient Competency Assessment Center published in 2019 and 2022. She also authored a chapter in ASHP Safety and Quality Pearls 2, published in 2009.

What a powerful statement, and one that I truly believe ASHP and their members emulate! While the Section of Community Pharmacy Practitioners is relatively new, its members are diverse and energized, and I am honored to have been selected to be a candidate for Section Chair. One of the most enjoyable facets over my tenure as a pharmacist is that of energizing and revitalizing teams to provide maximum impact on patients. This includes residency training, medication safety, academia, and ambulatory care services in a rural health system.
As a profession, we have done an excellent job of expanding pharmacist services into ambulatory care. Now I believe this is a critical time for community practitioners and where we must continue to advance pharmacist initiatives. Continued advancement of pharmacy technician roles and student/residency training are essential for a nimble new workforce to face future challenges. This investment in student and residency training is critical, and one that I believe I have had a significant amount of impact.
I also am a firm believer in continuing partnership with other organizations. ASHP has developed and maintained excellent working relationships, and I would be excited to continue and build upon those relationships.
I have been blessed with an amazing variety of experiences and relationships as a pharmacist, and I am so excited to continue this journey started by previous leaders of the Section. Thank you!
