Ashley M. Parrott, PharmD, MBA, BCACP, BCPS ([email protected]), is an ambulatory clinical pharmacy manager at Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Parrott graduated from the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences before completing a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the ProMedica Flower Hospital Family Medicine Residency. Parrott went on to complete her Master of Business Administration at the University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation. She is board certified in ambulatory care and pharmacotherapy. In her role at Parkview Health, Parrott has helped establish and expand ambulatory pharmacy services throughout northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. She also serves as residency program director for an ASHP accredited PGY2 ambulatory care residency program.
Parrott currently serves as Director-at-Large for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP). She previously served as Chair of the SACP Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability. During her service to the Section, Parrott has contributed to multiple SACP resource documents, an ASHP webinar, and a podcast. She has presented regionally for the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy and nationally at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting on ambulatory pharmacy services, including topics on service development and reimbursement. Parrott was recognized with the Glen Sperandio Health System Pharmacist of the Year award for the state of Indiana in 2020 for her outstanding service in pharmacy practice, professional organizations, and to the community.
The vision of the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners is that “every patient can receive care needed from an ambulatory care pharmacist as part of their healthcare team.” This vision is truly something to aspire to and is a direct reflection of the work that each of our members pours into their participation in the Section and often within their own practices.
As we continue to aspire to this vision as a collective pharmacy profession, the dynamic nature of the healthcare system continues to push us to develop new strategies, approaches, and care models to continue to drive ambulatory pharmacy forward. These efforts take many forms, from equipping membership with various resources such as resource center documents, podcasts, and webinars to leading policy changing efforts at state and national levels. Our Section remains adaptable to meet the changing needs of our membership within this dynamic healthcare environment.
Being an active member of ASHP is truly one of the highlights of my career. I have had the opportunity to help other members grow ambulatory pharmacy services through various activities within the Section while collaborating with a network of individuals who are passionate about continuing to advance ambulatory care pharmacy practice. Through my history of service to the Section as well as my practice experience, I am well-equipped for the role of Section Chair. It is an honor to be nominated to continue to serve our ASHP membership in this capacity.
