ASHP Member Sections Election Results

ASHP members have selected the following persons to serve on the executive committees of ASHP’s Pharmacy Practice Sections.
 
The terms for the Section chairs-elect begin immediately, and the two-year terms for the directors-at-large will begin in June 2017.

The new officers are as follows:

Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners
Chair-elect: Laura Traynor, Pharm.D., BCPS
Director-at-Large: Jessica Skelley, Pharm.D., BCACP

Laura Traynor, Pharm.D., BCPS, is Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Concordia University Wisconsin School of Pharmacy in Mequon. She is a Past Chair of the Section Advisory Group on Clinical Practice Advancement, has served on the Section Advisory Group on Cognitive Reimbursement Resources, and has held several leadership roles with the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.

Jessica Skelley, Pharm.D., BCACP, is Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, Ala. She is Chair of the Section Advisory Group on Compensation and Practice Sustainability, and has served in several leadership roles with the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists
Chair-elect: Kim W. Benner, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP, FPPAG
Director-at-Large: Douglas Slain, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP, FCCP

Kim W. Benner, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP, FPPAG, is Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, Ala. She is a Past Chair of the Section Educational Steering Committee, Past Chair of the Council on Therapeutics, and served as a coordinator and judge for the ASHP National Clinical Skills Competition.

Douglas Slain, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP, FCCP, is Associate Professor and Infectious Diseases Clinical Specialist at West Virginia University in Morgantown. He is a Past Chair of the Council on Therapeutics, a past member of the Section Educational Steering Committee, and a Past Vice President of the West Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners
Chair-elect: Linda M. Spooner, Pharm.D., BCPS-AQ ID, FASHP
Director-at-Large: Paul E. Milligan, Pharm.D.

Linda M. Spooner, Pharm.D., BCPS-AQ ID, FASHP, is Professor of Pharmacy Practice at MCPHS University in Boston, Mass., and practices as a clinical pharmacy specialist in infectious diseases at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass. She is Past Chair of the Section Educational Steering Committee, a member of the ASHP Antimicrobial Resistance Taskforce, and a Past Director of Educational Affairs for the New Jersey Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Paul E. Milligan, Pharm.D., is System Medication Safety Pharmacist at BJC HealthCare in St. Louis, Mo. He has served as the Vice Chair of the Section Advisory Group on Medication Safety and is the founder of the St. Louis Area Medication Safety Collaborative.

Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology
Chair-elect: Joseph J. Lassiter, Pharm.D., M.S., BCPS, CPHIMS
Director-at-Large: Seth W. Hartman, Pharm.D.

Joseph J. Lassiter, Pharm.D., M.S., BCPS, CPHIMS, is Chief Pharmacy Officer and Senior Consultant with The Robertson Group in Lake Oswego, Ore. He is a Past Director-at-Large of the Section and a Past Chair of the Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Professional Affairs Council.

Seth W. Hartman, Pharm.D., is a Medication Safety Manager at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Ore. He has served on the Section Advisory Group on Professional Development, as Chair of the Section’s Educational Steering Committee, and as a program chair, moderator, and presenter during Informatics Institute at the ASHP Summer Meetings.

Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers
Chair-elect: Jennifer E. Tryon, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP
Director-at-Large: Philip W. Brummond, Pharm.D., M.S.

Jennifer E. Tryon, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP, is Associate Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. She is a Past President of the Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists, a Past Director-at-Large of the Section, and Past Chair and member of the Council on Pharmacy Management.

Philip W. Brummond, Pharm.D., M.S., is Director of Pharmacy Services at Froedtert Hospital and Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He has served on the Section’s Educational Steering Committee, Advisory Groups on Leadership Development and Pharmacy Business Management, and the ASHP Council on Education and Workforce Development.

ASHP thanks the members of the Board of Canvassers for their work to certify the election results. The members of the Board of Canvassers are Steve Levy (Chair), Ted Friedman, Anthony Longo, Phillip Manning, and Frank Sosnowski.
