Members of 2016-17 ASHP Councils, Committees, and Advisory Bodies Take Office

More than 100 ASHP members appointed by ASHP President Lisa Gersema to serve on ASHP’s councils, committees, and other advisory bodies began serving their terms last month. Members in these roles will advise the Board of Directors, recommend professional policies and standards, and represent key membership groups.

Appointees were nominated by their colleagues last fall and were selected by the incoming president in March. The criteria for appointment include prior ASHP volunteer experience, active participation in affiliated state societies, and areas of special expertise. Students, residents, new practitioners, and other members with characteristics that help to achieve a balance of perspectives and diversity are also sought for these roles.

The members will serve on either one of ASHP’s five policy recommending councils, the Commission on Affiliate Relations, the Commission on Credentialing, or the Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission. The executive committees of the Pharmacy Student Forum and the New Practitioners Forum are also appointed through this process.
